Nominya is a free reference site for cross-cultural Chinese naming. By using it, you agree to these terms.
The service
Nominya provides curated Chinese name suggestions paired with English names, plus reference content about cross-cultural naming. The content is informational and editorial — not professional consulting, not legal advice, not a replacement for input from family elders, religious advisors, or qualified naming consultants.
Use the site responsibly
You may browse, link to, share, and reference any page on Nominya for personal use. You may not:
- Scrape the site at high volume or automate requests in a way that disrupts service
- Republish substantial portions of our editorial content (cultural notes, guides, name rationales) without attribution and a link back
- Use the site to harass anyone or for any unlawful purpose
Content quality
We work hard to make our Chinese name candidates and cultural notes accurate, well-reviewed by a native Chinese speaker, and free of common pitfalls (taboos, dialect issues, dated styles). That said, names carry personal, family, and cultural weight that varies by family. Before locking in any name, we recommend you:
- Read the candidate aloud with your full surname
- Run it past native-speaker family and friends in your relevant dialect community
- Search the full name on Chinese social media for accidental homophones or collisions
We accept no liability for naming decisions you make based on our content.
No warranties
Nominya is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no warranties — express, implied, statutory, or otherwise — about fitness for any particular purpose, accuracy or completeness of data, cultural appropriateness for your specific family or dialect community, or uninterrupted availability of the service.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Nominya and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of (or inability to use) the site, including but not limited to damages related to name selection, family or social outcomes, official document registration, or any consequence of relying on our content.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Nominya and its operators harmless from any claim or demand made by any third party due to or arising out of your use of the site, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any rights of another person.
Copyright and DMCA
If you believe content on Nominya infringes your copyright, please email contact@nominya.com with: (1) a description of the copyrighted work, (2) the URL of the allegedly infringing material, (3) your contact information, and (4) a statement made under penalty of perjury that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner. We will respond to valid notices in accordance with the DMCA safe harbor procedures.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Nominya is operated, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to these terms or your use of the site shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first; if unresolved, in courts of competent jurisdiction in the United States.
Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
